This week we hiked the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, got involved at a Trump rally and made our way to Washington DC! This week we continued to chill in Miami and then started heading north to the Carolinas on the final leg of our journey.
I’d like to say that we spent our Miami time in the sun but the storms confined us to our apartment, blitzing our way through the Game of Thrones series. Finally, on our last day in Miami, the sun came out. And we both burned ourselves silly 😦
This week began with frustrating hitchhiking but ended in a beautiful apartment in Miami for Sarah’s BIRTHDAY!
Hitchhiking becomes stressful when you have a time limit and with only one day in Atlanta, the pressure was on to get there as fast as possible…
We sourced a fair amount of food this week (not all of it edible…) and covered 1,200 miles!
Hitting the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Kentucky. We were rained out of the south and had to skip New Orleans which was gutting as we’d been really looking forward to it but hey ho! gotta go with tha flow…
Ten years ago I blitzed £4,000 on a 4 week trip to the USA.
Planning for the pretenniless trip has made spending that amount of money seem completely insane but at the time I didn’t think twice about it. I didn’t question spending my money like I was rollin’ in it. If I could have seen myself ten years on, travelling around the States spending not a single cent, hitchhiking, couchsurfing and dumpster diving for food, I would’ve thought I’d lost it in my old age.
